PRIMARY AND SECONDARY COILS
PRIMARY AND SECONDARY COILS:
This is an electrical conductor such as a wire in the shape of a coil, spiral or helix. Electromagnetic coils are used in electrical engineering, in applications where electric currents interact with magnetic fields, in devices such as electric motors, generators, inductors, electromagnets, transformers, and sensor coils.
Specifications:
- For exploring the concept of electromagnetic induction.
- Comprises two coils – primary coil wound from thicker gauge enameled copper wire with lesser number of turns; and secondary coil wound from thinner gauge, fine enameled copper wire with more number of turns.
- Both coils wound on a insulated plastic former and fitted with 4 mm sockets.
- Primary slides into secondary for electromagnetic coupling.
- Includes soft iron cylindrical core that slides into primary.
