ALPHA SCATTERING APPARATUS:

This is a general physical process where some forms of radiation, such as light, sound, or moving particles, are forced to deviate from a straight trajectory by one or more paths due to localized non-uniformities in the medium through which they pass.

Specifications:

• A low cost apparatus for the demonstration of the Rutherford scattering by means of a gravitational analog of inverse square law repulsion.
• Comprises a wooden launching lamp about 300×50×105 mm.
• With a guiding groove running down.
• Its curved front face along its length and index marks at 40, 60, 80 and 100 mm height above the base that provides 4 pre-determined launching heights.
• Also included is a spun aluminium hill about 280 mm diameter and 60 mm height
• Along with a 19 mm steel ball.
