RAIN GAUGE:

This is an instrument used by the meteorologists and the hydrologists to gather and measure the amount of liquid precipitation over a set period of time. Types of rain gauges include the graduated cylinders, weighing gauges, tipping bucket gauges, and a simple buried pit collectors. Each type has its advantages and the disadvantages for collecting the rain data.
