SIPHON BAROMETER

SIPHON BAROMETER:

It is the term sometimes applied to the simplest of mercury barometers. When placed into the upright, “U”, position, mercury will flow away from the sealed end, forming a partial vacuum, until balanced by atmospheric pressure on the other end.

Specifications:

• Wall model, barometer mounted on unbreakable, non-bendable plastic base-board of size 93×10 cm .
• Consists of a clear glass Toricelli tube with a U-bend at the lower end leading to the mercury reservoir.
• Reservoir has a screw cap at the top, the thread’s gap being sufficient to balance the atmospheric pressure by confining the mercury vapors.
• Supplied without mercury.
